Lions are big cats that live in Africa and Asia. They have yellowish-brown fur and are known for their loud roars. Male lions have a mane of hair around their necks. Lions live in groups called prides that have several females, their cubs, and a few males. They hunt together, with females doing most of the hunting. Lions eat meat, like zebras and antelopes. They are very good at running and can reach speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. Lions are strong and can jump as far as 36 feet. They like to sleep for about 20 hours a day! Lions are called the "king of the jungle" because they are powerful and fierce predators.
